Whose Voice Are You Listening To The Most?
Oct 27, 2018
Lately I’ve been feeling convicted by how many voices vie for my time and attention.
I’m bombarded with an endless pit of images, messaging, apps, courses, podcasts, and videos to consume…. and right now it’s just making my head spin.
So I write today from a burdened heart that needs more Jesus and less… everything else.
- Less Facebook.
- Less Instagram.
- Less YouTube.
- More Jesus.
- More Jesus.
- More Jesus.
What was supposed to be a way to connect with my old friends, has become a standard for which I measure life and beauty.
Accidentally, of course.
Research now shows that our brains have actually figured out a way to re-wire itself from the amount of information we receive on a daily basis. Now distraction is our normal. Sometimes we even feel lonely or isolated when we aren’t plugged in.
How sad is that?
When we are present in our actual reality, we feel out of place. Like we should be busy… distracted even.
And I don’t want to contribute to it right now. I don’t want to be another voice. I want to point you to the only person’s voice who matters. The one that actually knit me together piece by piece.
The one I know best. The one that knows me best.
God’s voice is truly the only voice that matters and He thinks you’re PERFECT. How relieving is that?
So because I’m never fake with you… this is what I’ve been going through recently and I know out of the thousands of you that read this thing, I’m not the only one.
If you’re consciously aware or maybe just realizing that you’ve given too much weight to the endless sea of voices who don’t deserve it, know you are not alone.
I encourage you to dig down deep and remember who God says you are instead.
If you need to take a break from social media, do it. If you need to put your phone on airplane mode at 9pm, do it. If you need to sit on your porch and journal or make up little songs of worship, do it. If you need to tape handwritten bible verses around the house so you are constantly reminded of truth, do it.
I encourage you. Whatever gets you back to the you you recognize, the you you respect, the you who is real and feels loved by our savior, do it.
God is always pursuing you and I. He loves us differently because we are different from each other and he knows exactly what we need.
Don’t allow other voices to have more POWER than His.
- I need more time to be still.
- To pray.
- To listen.
- To worship.
- To speak scripture out loud over my life with authority.
I need God to fill me with long lasting peace, contentment, hope and joy. Not insecurity, fear, comparison, pity, etc. There’s no ROI in those things anyway.
God doesn’t call us to be confident women – he calls us to be confident in who HE is. What a game changer from what the worldly voices tell us. Inhale and exhale, sister. You are loved. You are exactly where you need to be. You just need to soften the “good” voices and delete the other voices in your mind so that God’s voice is magnified.
Reflect on this song and feel God telling you these things personally.
Thank you for listening to my rambling. It comes from a pure heart, I promise. I hope God speaks to you in some way today, and I hope you have the courage to listen.

Exactly what I needed to hear! You should write a book!

I would love to write a book some day. I’m glad God spoke through this at the time you needed it most.
