Ways To Bring More Gratitude In The World

One way to bring more gratitude in the world at large, is by having a consistent mindset of humility and thankfulness at home. Not only is it a healthy practice for us as individuals, but it also changes the atmosphere of our families and neighborhoods. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to kick-start this exercise. If you’re wanting something easy to start with, I recommend this gratitude journal that I use almost every day. The simple prompts inside spark sweet memories I’ve forgotten about, giving me a few moments of reprieve and joy amid a busy day. I find myself smiling each time I write inside of my gratitude journal, and it really does shift my perspective for the better. It’s hard to be discontent when your heart is full of thanksgiving.

Another way to bring more gratitude in the world is by using that renewed energy of thanksgiving, allowing it to overflow by engaging with others in a positive manner. Complimenting someone we run into at the store, sending a “thank you” text to a loved one for no reason at all, mailing a quick note to a parent/grandparent, or meeting the needs of a neighbor who is going through a rough season. Whether we’re at the office or at home, a practice of gratitude within ourselves—and outside of ourselves—will make the world a better place.
