The Lights Fest

Dec 17, 2024

Thank you to The Lights Fest for partnering with me.

I recently attended The Lights Fest with my family. This was a new-to-us event, so we weren’t sure what to expect. We gathered blankets, chairs, and picnic food and set out on our first lantern release adventure. Upon arrival, we were met with hundreds of other families, soft live music, and a full moon. As the sun set, our little family of four played games and talked about our dreams for the future. As well as, the things we wanted to let go of in the new year. Each of us with different ideas and revelations, took turns writing on our lanterns. As the sky grew dark, Tiki torches demanded the night’s attention, and one by one, we lit our lanterns and released them. I noticed people praying before releasing their lanterns, others hugging and kissing, and we even witnessed four wedding engagements! As we soaked in this therapeutic moment in time, we felt a sense of connection to each other, and to the strangers all around us, each lantern embossed with desires and goals of their own. I asked Audri what she thought of the event and she said, “I love it Mom. It feels spiritual.” Averi kept her eyes focused on the lanterns all night, laughing as they bumped into one another, excited to see another one launch. Overall, it was a unique event that captured the spirit of humanity, of Christmas. I recommend experiencing this for yourself. You can find several locations here.
